from RS485 to RS232
LCS485 converts RS-232 signals to differential transceiver, RS485, for communication on multipoint bus transmission lines. It contains dual differential line drivers and dual differential line receiver, ideal for half-duplex, full duplex, data monitor and multipoint applications. With +/-15kV ESD protection, the LCS485 is ideal for long distance differential signal transmission. Depending on the number of signal wires, it can operate under Four Wire Full Duplex or Two Wire Half Duplex mode.
Configurations
ㅁ Point-to-Point : Allows two devices to communicate with each other with differential signals for long-distance applications.
ㅁ Multipoint : Up to 32 devices can exchange information using the same signal lines with one device as a Master under user-defined protocol.
ㅁ Simplex/Transmit, Receive Only : Uses only two signal lines for transmission, Similar to Multipoint with one talk-only Master device and all other Devices are listen-only.
ㅁ Monitor : Listens the signals going back and forth between two RS-422 or RS-485 equipment.

Point-to-Point
ㅁ 4-Wire, full Duplex configuration: Two devices send and receive data using different pairs of lines
ㅁ 2-Wire, half Duplex configuration: Two devices transmit or receive data using the same pair of lines controlled by RTS signals on both sides.
Multipoint
ㅁ 4-Wire, full Duplex configuration: One device (Master) sends and receives data; up to 31 other devices (Slaves) receive data all the time and send data only when RTS signal is active.
ㅁ 2-Wire, half Duplex configuration: One device (Master) sends data when its RTS signal is active while up to 31 other devices (Slaves) receive data.
Simplex/Transmit, Receive Only
ㅁ Only one device (Master) sends data while up to 31 other devices (Slaves, S1, S2…. up to S31) receive data.
Monitor
ㅁ While two devices communicate with each other using RS-485 transceivers, a third (monitoring) device monitors the signals going back and forth via LCS485. Note: The pin assignment for the terminal block and the RJ-11 Jack varies for this mode.
